Privacy Policy
Divio (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a shared-expense app that helps friends, flatmates and travel companions split bills and settle up. We built Divio to be private by design: we ask for as little as possible, we don’t run ads, and we never sell your data. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
Who we are

Information we collect
Account information. You sign in with Sign in with Apple. Apple gives us a unique identifier for your account and, only if you choose to share them, your name and an email address (which may be Apple’s private relay address). We never see your Apple password.
Content you create. To make the app work, we store the groups you create, the people you add to them (including names you type in for people who don’t use the app), expenses and transfers (amounts, currency, category, title, date, who paid, how it’s split), and any receipt photos you attach.
Feedback you send. If you use the in-app feedback form, we store your message and any screenshot you attach so we can respond and improve the app.
What we do not collect. Divio contains no advertising SDKs, no third-party analytics, and no tracking. We do not collect your contacts, precise location, browsing history, or a device advertising identifier, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
How we use your information
- To provide the core service: create groups, record who paid what, compute balances, and suggest the simplest way to settle up.
- To sync your data across your sessions and devices.
- To respond to feedback and support requests.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
We do not use your information for advertising or sell it to anyone.
How your data is stored and protected
Your data is stored with our hosting provider Supabase (PostgreSQL, hosted in the European Union). Access is protected by row-level security, so each person can only read and write the groups they belong to. Data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS/TLS connections.
Receipt photos are extra-sensitive, so we minimise them: they’re kept in a private storage bucket, shown to you through short-lived signed links (never public URLs), and automatically deleted after 30 days. You can also delete a receipt at any time.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the service providers that make the app run, acting as processors on our behalf:
- Apple — for Sign in with Apple authentication.
- Supabase — for database, authentication and file storage.
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
Your choices and rights
- Edit or delete content — you can edit or delete expenses, remove groups, and leave groups from within the app.
- Delete your account — you can delete your account and associated personal data from Profile → Delete Account in the app. Deleting your account removes your profile and your personal data; shared expense history that other members rely on may be retained in anonymised form so their balances remain correct.
- Access or export — email us to request a copy of your data.
Depending on where you live (e.g. the EU/EEA under GDPR, or California under CCPA), you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your data. Contact us and we’ll help.
Data retention
We keep your data while your account is active. Deleted groups are recoverable for 7 days and then permanently purged. Receipt photos are deleted after 30 days. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data.
Children
Divio is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
International transfers
Our servers are located in the European Union. If you use Divio from another country, your information will be processed in the EU under appropriate safeguards.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll change the “Last updated” date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the app.
